Hookah banned in Karnataka: The Karnataka state government has now banned hookah in the state. On Wednesday, instructions were given by the Karnataka State Government to completely and immediately ban the sale, use, and consumption of tobacco and non-tobacco hookah in all public places in the state.

Karnataka State Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao (Dinesh Gudu Rao, Health Minister, Karnataka) gave information about this decision of the state government on Thursday.

It is being said that the state government has banned the sale and use of hookahs across the state to protect the health of the people and prevent diseases caused by tobacco consumption.

Now hookah will not be sold anywhere in Karnataka state

According to the information given by Rao’s office, “Now the use and sale of hookah has been banned in hotels, restaurants, bars, lounges, bars, cafes, clubs and other public places. It is noteworthy that the trend of use of intoxicants and tobacco products is increasing among the youth, due to which there is a lot of harm to their health. This decision is considered very important to save the youth from the harm of tobacco consumption.

Let us tell you that tobacco is used in hookah, whereas in many places flavors like fruit and cardamom are also made available (Flavored hookah). But nicotine is also found in these. This is the reason why all types of hookahs have been completely banned by the state government.

According to data from the World Health Organization’s ‘Global Adult Tobacco Survey 2016-17 (GATS-2), 22.8 percent of adults in the state of Karnataka consume tobacco, while 8.8 percent of people smoke. (consumption of tobacco in Karnataka state)

According to studies, 90% of lung cancer cases are related to tobacco consumption. At the same time, tobacco use has also been seen as a major reason for deaths due to this cancer. Apart from this, the risk of these diseases is also seen in those who consume tobacco.
